Song on the MP3 Player: I Don't Feel Like Dancing
It's Friday the 13th and I couldn't resist researching superstitions. Today's theme is marriage and anyone who knows me will see the humor in the theme. I found some really good superstitions surrounding the blessed event. For example: If a woman finds a four leaf clover and puts it in her right show, the next bachelor she sees will be her husband. Back off ladies. Put the grass down and walk away. You don't know where he's been. Another classic states that if a woman eats salted herring before bed, her future husband will appear in her dreams with a cup of water to quench her thirst. Who in their right mind eats salted herring before bed? Come to think of it, who in their right mind eats salted herring? This practice also brings up the issue of morning breath.
. The last one I'll mention says you should be married on the upswing of the clock (on the half hour rather than the hour) that way the hands are heading up not down. Bodes well for the honeymoon doesn't it?
. I can't help but think that if something is so widely believed in, there must be a grain of truth somewhere. Still, I don't think I'm in the mood for salted herring.
